History of Lake Area Discovery Center

HistoryFounder Janet Miller has been an early-childhood specialist for over 25 years. She has her Education degree from the University of MN, holds a current MN Teaching License and is a Certified Parent Educator.

Janet began LADC in 1999 to fill a need in the community for more strong, Christian-based early childhood programs. Striving to offer the highest-quality preprimary education, the decision was made by the Board of Directors to hire only 4 year degreed, early-childhood education/kindergarten certified lead preschool teachers with a current MN teaching license.

Partners in Education and MinistryHistory
Janet and the LADC Board of Directors have built partnerships with area churches and schools. LADC brings the expertise in child-development, DHS Licensing and National Accreditation, providing high-quality care and Kindergarten-readiness programs. Our church partners provide beautiful buildings and spaces, as well as co-hosting ministry and fellowship events throughout the year. Our school partners share their beautiful school facilities and provide high-quality elementary education in faith-focused communities for the whole family.

These partnerships enable LADC to hire dedicated, licensed early-childhood teachers and provide them with competitive salaries and benefits.

Since 1999  LADC has grown to 13 metro partnership locations, with a team of over 110 teachers and staff. The program was first awarded NAEYC Accreditation in 2009.  Originally a traditional preschool program, LADC has grown to include programs for infants and toddlers. All locations offer wrap-around care and full and part-time schedules, with many locations providing year-round (summer)programming.History
