Mary Volmer – Discovery Lead Teacher
Mary joined the Discovery Team in 2016 as a Lead Teacher after graduation with a BA in Elementary Education and MN Teaching License. She took over as Site Director at Annunciation’s Discovery Center in 2018.

Debbie Ortiz- Kinderstart Lead Teacher
Debbie has her B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Metropolitan State University. She has worked with infants, toddlers and school age students for the past 20 years, and was a Family Service Worker for eight years. She is passionate about working with children in a classroom setting and preparing preschoolers to succeed in their years ahead! One of her favorite parts of teaching is building connections with students in a positive, supportive learning environment and watching the “Aha!” moments as students learn.

Peter Lagemeier, Site-Director & Lead Kinderstart Teacher
Peter joined the Discovery teaching team in the Fall of 2021. He has experience as a team leader with AmeriCorps, as well as working as a paraprofessional. Peter has a BA of Psychology, as well as his MA of Teaching.

Kewanda Robinson, After-School Lead Teacher
Kewanda earned her DCA at Ellis University. Prior to joining the Discovery Center in 2014, she taught at KinderCare, as well as several years at St. David’s Family and Childcare Services in Plymouth, MN. Kewanda enjoys traveling, event planning, hearing live music and spending time with her family. A favorite pastime is reading books to the kids in her neighborhood in her downstairs lobby.
