Our Spiritual Learning Goals
Young children have a natural sense of AWE, WONDER and MYSTERY. During these early years, we have the opportunity to unwrap a child’s spirituality and develop their sense of connection to God and the Christian-community that an last throughout their lifetime.
Our GOALS are for children to:
- Have an AWARENESS of themselves as a CHILD OF GOD, loved and accepted for who they are.
- Recognize their VALUE and WORTH as members of the Christian FAITH COMMUNITY, and develop the ability to build relationships with others.
- Be moved by the BEAUTY and KINDNESS of people in the world, and find HOPE and COMFORT in their faith during times of sadness, uncertainty, suffering or death.
- Learn to bring their thoughts, concerns, thankfulness and appreciation to God in PRAYER.
Discovery Center LICENSED LEAD TEACHERS support children’s early-spiritual growth by being positive role-models and offering many faith-formation experiences through daily PRAISE SONGS and PRAYER-TIME, monthly WORSHIPS, HOLIDAY CELEBRATIONS (including Holy Week, Easter, Christmas, All-Saints Day) and offering SUPPORT and CELEBRATIONS for family milestones (including birthdays, new baby/siblings, moving, illness/surgery, loss).
